Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Damage

Locals observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
