Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
