A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
